I'm sure it's a great school as long as you are Hawaiian. Teachers would leave my 4 year old in tears everyday at lunch because he was full and they wanted him to eat every single thing in his lunch. To the point that no matter what meal he is having he is a nervous wreck. Only include parents of the Hawaiian children. I asked to go on the feild trips, do the class helper stuff, was told no they take turns..... But it was always the same 5 Hawaiian moms. I paid an outrageous amount of money for my son and I to be excluded. I only have one child. I would have really really liked to have gone on at least one field trip. This place is awful and he hated it.
IPA emphasizes individualized learning and caters to each student's needs. I truly appreciate the variety of offerings in their currriculum as well as after-school activities. There is a nice balance between the arts and STEM classes, whereas some schools only offer one or the other.
My daughter has gone to this school for 4 years now. Everyday she tells us about her day and how much she loves her teachers and the other supporting staff members. The school emphasizes the importance of asking questions and thinking outside the box. She expresses her thoughts and is always inquiring to learn more. The school has encouraged and taught her to love learning. What a lovely seed to plant. She looks forward to going to school everyday. When our son is 5 years old, he will definitely be attending IPA.
I had the opportunity to visit the school and attend to their classes for a week and I can tell that kids there are provided with everything they need to learn and grow in a wonderful way.
IPA has been the best school we could have joined when we moved on island. Our choices were Kapolei elementary and the campus was much to large and she needed more individual attention. They encouraged my daughter to feel part of the Ohana after moving from California from the get go. After 5 years, we continue to feel like part of the community. The opportunities for her to learn are much greater than we could have anticipated. They . I know that she is taken care of emotionally, mentally and physically there. Academically, she has had more diverse exposure to a variety of classes. The skills she has learned are far more advanced that I had expected. The IB program will best suit her as she transitions to the upper school. They strive for excellence academically and morally. We would love for her to graduate from the school. It will definitely increase her likelihood of attending the college of her choice.
