Like I said, I had no issues with the cleaning I received from this office, but after the high pressure sales pitch to buy a white smile and to do dentistry work that was clearly not needed (insurance fraud in my opinion), I won’t be back. by the way, that is NOT a picture of her on this page!
Going to the dentist, well as the old adage goes ... not my choice of entertainment, but if I have to go to a dentist, West Oahu Dental Center would be the place I would go.
I can't say I have had bad results with Dr Alcantra's office, but all I ever had was a cleaning there.
I have never heard of the need to replace fillings unless they were giving you problems. I had a dental review by my guard until that weekend and ran it by the military dentist, and he never heard such a thing and backed up my belief of "only if they give you problems". That opinion was later backed up by a second dentist when I went for a cleaning somewhere else.
A terrific dentist. Dr. Alcantra used to treat children for a number of years and it shows. She is very sensitive to her clients' comfort, making visiting her as pain free as possible. She is also very informative and honest, cluing you in to what needs to be done. I've been to 6-7 dentists throughout my life and she's the best by far. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
I've had these fillings for 30 years - no issues whatsoever with them. Seems to me Dr Alcantra's office is more concerned about selling highly profitable white smiles and 'perfect teeth' than they are about providing good oral hygiene and routine care. My wife had to be sent to a specialist for a root canal because her office couldn’t handle it. A dentist that can’t handle a root canal?
What really BOTHERED me was the 'snow job' they were trying to give me! During the exam, the staff would mention that I "should consider replacing my fillings because they are getting old" and then of course tried to sell me a plan to replace the fillings with the fancy cool 'white' fillings (the ones insurance WON'T cover because of the cost) but offered to bill insurance for the 'silver fillings', and then charge me the difference between what insurance would pay toward silver fillings versus the white ones. This was still a significant cost difference and they offered to set up a payment plan and proceeded to set up a schedule to do the work (which I called the next day to cancel)!
