This place is truly a five star resort. We spent 7 days here this fall as a family. Definitely worth picking up the refillable drink ups as soon as you arrive and refillable pop corn buckets were also good! The resort it self is spotless so we'll kept and beautiful. the sheltered bay beach area is still very active with waves if you have not experienced Hawaiian waves before be careful they will knock you over my kids ran out expecting them to be like home and got swamped. The resort it quite secluded with out a vehicle there is not much to walk to outside of the resort and everything in the resort is family centric there is not much night life to speak of perfect if your looking for a family get away! Our oldest being 11 was the perfect age to do everything he could spend all day at the pools enjoying himself where as my youngest at age 2 was still a bit small for most of the activities and too small for any of the Aunties cottage groups. Even though we were there in the "off season" everything was packed I can't imagine how busy this place gets during the busy season! Life jackets we're all checked out by lunch time and it was impossible to find a lounge chair by the pool unless you got out there right at 8am to reserve a seat. There are no cubbies to leave your stuff in pool side it would have been nice to have lockers or something. Over all if we were to return it would be for a shorter stay by about day 3 all the kids were tired and had fully explored the water park and the toddlers we're very tired from all the crowds. We chose the garden island view room it was the most affordable option but it turned out to be a great choice we faced east away from the resort which was nice for seeing the sunrise and nice to relax after a busy day in the resort spaces.
We had a wonderful family vacation here in the spring. Love the fact that there is a kids club for kids 3 and up where they can attend registered activities as well as drop in play. My kids loved attending the morning family open house and the registered sessions were a hit too. Love that this resort is not too big and there are so many different things to do that you don't feel like you need to leave the resort. Mornings come early when adjusting to the time change and it is a really nice walk to walk along the ocean on the paved path to see the various coves. If you have a chance head over to paradise cove to try and see the sea turtles and there was lots of little fish swimming around the rocks. We attended the luau on site while it was being done inside and it was wonderful. The luau kept our 3 year old captivated the entire time. Having food allergies in our group we really appreciated the care taken by the chef to ensure our food was safe and to go through the buffet line with us to see what we would like and then they would prepare it in the back where there was no risk of cross contamination. We will definitely be back.
What's the point of paying Disney for s FAMILY vacation package when they don't even control or have an arrangement with the airline to honor their reservations. You can't decide to change seat arrangements around and have young children seated by themselves for a 5-hour flight; idiotic.
Welcome Home! What a great greeting after a long day of travel. Friendly genuine employees. Beautiful rooms, amazing pools, fabulous beach, great food, fun activities. You wouldn't even have to leave the hotel to have a one of a kind vacation. Which is saying something with how much I love Hawaii.
This ruin our family vacation.
We had two little kids and made our reservations many months ahead just to make sure we were able to selects next to our kids. We had email confirmation of our reserved airline seats but when 24 hour check-in was available, our reserved seats were no longer available and worse, they scattered my family members every where but next to each other.
First time overnight guest at any Disney property and really amazed at the total Disney experience. Getting dropped off at the front, warmly greeted by staff. Coming through the main doors, welcomed with fruity water and lei. Arriving to my hotel room, seeing a towel shaped like Mickey on the bed. Pretty much all of the staff say aloha whenever you pass them. The staff call themselves cast instead of staff. Had the character breakfast and just loved how the characters engaged the children throughout the meal.
My young kids were seated by themselves as well as my wife and I. I called up Disney to request to resolve this and all they can say is, it's out of their control and that I have to call up the airline to see if they can change seats back to how we had original made reservation for.
Don't pay for the vacation package! Unbeknownst to us, Disney uses third party Ernst the customer support is poorly trained. In addition, they have no control over what three airlines decides to do.
